Kate Donald Joins Squamscott Staff!

Kate Donald is the new Sustainability Coordinator for the Commons. She will be launching a new environmental committee for the Commons, as well as coordinating grants, communication and partnerships that support the sustainable aspects of the new community center. An organic farmer during the warmer months of the year, Kate grows vegetables at Willow Pond Community Farm in Brentwood where she runs a Community Supported Agriculture program. She moved to the Seacoast four years ago, and lives in Exeter with her husband Jeff. Prior to farming, Kate spent five years working for environmental nonprofits in New York City, developing community gardens and urban agriculture programs. She holds a BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, and a Certificate in Ecological Horticulture from the University of California at Santa Cruz. A “local food” advocate, Kate is an active member of Slow Food Seacoast and Seacoast Eat Local, and serves on the board of the Seacoast Growers’ Association.

Holiday Shopping at ECCA November 17 & 18!

Thought you’d all like to hear about a exciting fundraiser (think holiday shopping!) put on by ECCA (Exeter Center for the Creative Arts).

Next Saturday and Sunday (11/17 & 18) they’ll be hosting a Holiday Fine Arts Fair at their space in the old high school (use same entrance as Musical Arts). Art by both program participants AND local professional artist will be for sale.

A great way to support ECCA and local artists! Together, we’re helping promote and sustain quality nonprofit organizations…no need to wait until the building is built! Let’s start now!
